When you vote on a board at votier.app, we set one functional cookie: a random anonymous id, so your ballot counts once and your picks stay yours. It identifies a browser and expires after a year. Votes are stored against that id. If you sign in and save your voting identity, we link it to your account so you can use your ballot on another device.
To keep bots off the boards we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs a short automated check in your browser the first time you vote. Data handled by Turnstile is covered by the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum. Vote records also include a daily salted hash of your IP address and, when available, your country to help detect vote flooding. The hash changes daily; your raw IP address is not stored in the vote record.
Creating boards requires signing in with Google through Firebase Authentication; we store your account id and the boards you make. Voting never requires an account.
We use a separate first-party cookie, lasting 90 days, to recognize a browser across visits. We record visits to our homepage, Studio and web app pages, board visits, accepted votes and completed ballots. These records include a browser id, a time, a board id where applicable, and a broad link source such as Reddit, a shared link or another page on VoTier. We do not store the full referring URL in these participation records.
Participation records do not currently expire automatically. Expiration of the 90-day cookie does not delete those records. You can contact us about deletion using the address below.
We also use a daily salted IP-address hash to limit visit requests and new browser ids. These request counters are separate from participation records; counters older than the previous UTC day are removed when the next visit request is processed.
We use these records to understand whether people find a board, finish voting, try another board and return later. Reports use counts, not names or email addresses. Clearing cookies changes the browser identity and may also lose access to an anonymous ballot. The visit cookie does not give permission to vote or reveal results.
Shared ballot links are public: anyone with the link can see the picks you chose to share. Fonts are served by Google Fonts; sign-in and bot checks use the providers described above.
If you email us, we use your address to respond to your request. Contact us below about access to or deletion of your information.
VoTier runs on Reddit's developer platform. Your votes, points, and streaks are stored inside Reddit against your Reddit username, in the subreddit where you played. VoTier makes no requests to any outside service and sees nothing beyond your Reddit username and your taps in its own posts. Reddit's own privacy policy covers your Reddit account.
